“Critical Media Literacy” in Malisheva: Increasing awareness about identifying, evaluating and analyzing information

May 29, 2019

“Fake news is a big thing in the field of Social Media Journalism. Fake news can be as simple has spreading misinformation.or as dangerous as smearing hateful propaganda.” – Fabrizio Moreira

To fight fakenews, more tha 20 participants from Malisheva took part in the Media Education workshop held at KosovaLive, where they had the chance to listen to a lecture and partake in interactive workshops to identify fakenews, get information on how to evaluate news, and how to be protected from them.

During this workshop their main challenge was to critically think and read articles.

The workshop was led by Artiola Babuni, Fitore Bekteshi, and Foleta Berisha, from our program for empowering women and girls, who used the methodology created by Annea Hapciu, to increase their knowledge and their critical thinking abilities for evaluating, analyzing and identifying fakenews. They were also encouraged to factcheck the information before they create, consume and distribute social media posts.

This workshop is supported by Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS) dhe imlementohet nga KosovaLive.
